How to Run a Website Conversion Audit
A page-by-page audit for finding the clarity, trust, UX, and friction issues that keep qualified visitors from taking action.

- Message clarity is the first conversion optimization.
- Audit the full journey, not just the hero section.
- Prioritize by impact and confidence, then measure the change.
Audit clarity before color
A visitor should understand what you do, who it is for, why it matters, and what to do next without decoding the page. If the headline is vague or the CTA is generic, visual polish cannot rescue the conversion path.
The five-part audit
Review message clarity, page hierarchy, proof, friction, and measurement. Check the first screen, the decision-making sections, the form or checkout path, and the experience on a small screen.
- Clarity: can the right visitor self-identify?
- Hierarchy: can they scan the important information?
- Trust: is there relevant proof near the decision?
- Friction: what creates hesitation or effort?
- Measurement: can you see what happens next?
Turn findings into a testable plan
Prioritize issues by expected impact and confidence. Fix the highest-friction path first, then measure behavior and qualitative feedback. A good audit creates a sequence of decisions, not a giant list of opinions.
